The parties involved in Lahaina "wildfire" lawsuits against the state of Hawaii, Maui County and utilities are close to a global settlement of claims that will be worth a little over $4 billion, Gov. Josh Green told The Associated Press on Wednesday.

Attention Hawai'ian friends and Ohana! There have been over a dozen fires in Hawai'i this week alone, with at least 3 on Kauai, and 11 on Maui in just 24 hours!!  On Monday, July 22nd, 2024 at 9:16am MFD personnel were dispatched to the report of a brush fire in the vicinity of Piihana Road and Kahekili Highway. Crews arrived to find multiple areas of brush burning from as many as six initial ignition locations. Crews extended lines and water tankers were used to contain the fires. As a result of the fires, approximately 45 homes along Piihana Road were evacuated, with precautionary evacuation messages sent to residents of Happy Valley and Wailuku Heights. Forward progress of the fires was stopped by 11:36am, and the fires were fully contained by 2:45pm. Crews remain on the scene to continue mopping up the area. All evacuations were lifted just after 1:00pm. From what I've learned is that the islands are to be juat a huge resort & any residents who do not leave will be housed in 10 minute or 15 minute prisons.  The compensation to the residents for the loss of their homes, families & income are obscenely small - if at all.  Many residents are still either doubling up with family members, friends or just homeless due to their jobs being destroyed by the fires.  Each family received a one time payment of $700 from the Biden administration, I never heard if FEMA compensated any of them.  Most victims were housed & fed from local charity groups for a short while.  Property insurers have been EXTREMELY slow about paying anything - if at all and no building permits have been issued to rebuild even if the applicant has the cash up front for the materials.

Governor Green was generous enough to offer a one way ticket to Disneyland on Disney airlines.  What a nice way to tell someone who's lost EVERYTHING including famil & pets to "Get lost!"  Brothers & sisters this will be US!  We cannot drop the ball on this.  This is happening in Chile & globally as well but Mr. Global isn't even interested  if survivors anywhere have basic food & shelter.  They want us DEAD!
